Born and bred on the streets of The Bronx, NYC, Elder Paul Harper grew up in poverty and on welfare in a single parent household. Elder Paul once “gave up on God totally” after being touched inappropriately by a leader in the church he attended in his youth. “Turning to drugs and alcohol was the only answer I knew to fill the enormous void inside me.  My walk with God, to begin with, was shallow at best.  After being homeless for two years I gave my life to Jesus in 1998.  I still lived under the yoke of addiction for many years, until total deliverance by my Savior Jesus Christ, in 2002.   However because of His faithfulness, I in turn, learned to be faithful.  I was led to ‘THE WORD’ Church where I now serve as an Elder.”

Elder Paul serves in the Incarcerated Ministry and is a facilitator for Grief Recovery and Small Groups (Counseling & Small Groups Department).  Elder Paul is currently in process of obtaining a degree in Black Theology at The McCreary Center (extension of the Ashland Theological Seminary).

Elder Paul states, “I am married to my Kingdom Proverbs 31 woman, True Harper and we have three beautiful children – Reggea, Indigo, and Aiyinde.”
