Elder Sherdene Simpson is a servant leader under the spiritual authority of Pastor R. A Vernon, Founder and Senior Pastor of “THE WORD” Church.

 

Elder Sherdene Simpson “give[s] all praise, honor and glory to God for He is the head of [her] life”. Elder Sherdene is married to Elder Nate Simpson and has one daughter, Kiya.  Elder Sherdene is the full-time Director of the Counseling & Small Groups Department at “THE WORD” Church. She possesses a bachelor of arts in Sociology, masters of Education Administration, and a masters of Community Counseling from Kent State University (Kent, Ohio). She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Marriage and Family Therapy from The University of Akron (Akron, Ohio). She is a certified Grief Recovery Specialist.  Elder Sherdene holds professional membership in the American Association of Christian Counseling, American Counseling Association, and American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy. Elder Sherdene is a graduate of the National Council of Black American Affairs Leadership Development Institute and the Kent State University Leadership Academy.

 

Elder Sherdene gives glory to God for what He has done in her life. She loves the Lord and serves Him through ministering to His people. She encourages those in need of healing, “No matter what you have been through, with faith in God and perseverance, you can walk upright in deliverance, healing and the power He has given you.”   Eld. Sherdene’s passion is teaching women how to walk in God’s Spirit and she is committed to journeying with them, as they become empowered. 

 

But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint (Isaiah 40:31).
