12 Ways To Worship At “THE WORD”

Pastor Vernon believes that our weekend services should be geared toward winning the lost.  Although it is important to grow those who have already accepted Christ, since many visitors and unbelievers attend on the weekends, it is equally important that he preaches on a level where sinners and the most inexperienced Christian can understand. Therefore, the primary focus of his weekend messages is to be relevant and easily relatable.

However, on Wednesdays, Pastor Vernon presupposes your spiritual maturity, and gears his messages toward those who want to go deeper in the Word of God. We firmly believe that the weekends are for inspiration and revelation, but Wednesdays are for spiritual information. Remember, the crowds come on Sunday, but those who really want to fortify and strengthen their relationship with Christ attend one of our

midweek Bible Studies, in addition to our weekend services.

The following is a brief description of each Spirit-filled experience offered at  “THE WORD” Church. As a diverse body of believers, there are various options for you to choose from, so feel free to select a service that suits your spiritual preference.

Weekend Services

Saturday Night Live @ 6pm, WORD South  (Warrensville Heights, Main Campus)

Saturday Night Live is designed for people who like the idea of attending church on Saturday evening, then perhaps going out to enjoy dinner and a movie, without having to get up on Sunday morning to attend service. With that in mind, this service only lasts 1 hour and 15 minutes. Saturday Night Live is a contemporary service that features our Praise & Worship Team, any variety of our Performing Arts Ministry, including dance, mime, and other forms of creative expression, and an inspired Word from our Pastor. This service appeals to a multicultural crowd, as well as visitors who don’t want to miss service at their own church on Sunday.

Saturday Night Live “The Remix” Teen Church @ 5pm (Warrensville Heights, Main Campus) – Our Teen service is designed for young people between the ages of 12 – 18 and is designed to reach our youth by utilizing programs, services, and activities that appeal to them, while instructing and training them in the Word in a manner appropriate to their level of understanding. We encourage all parents who have children that fall in this age group to bring them to church on Saturdays at 5pm, and even stay over for our Saturday Night Live service at 6pm.

Sunday @ 8:00am, WORD South (Warrensville Heights, Main Campus) – This is our more conservative, abbreviated service designed for the mature, business-minded, or professional individual. The musical portion of this service is provided solely by our Praise & Worship Team, immediately followed by Pastor R.A. Vernon as he brings forth an anointed Word fresh out of the oven. If you enjoy a more reserved service with pedagogical instruction and a smaller crowd, then this service is perfect for you. Those who like the idea of being out of church early will love the fact that this service lasts only 1 hour; from 8am – 9am.

Sunday @ 10:00am (Warrensville Heights, Main Campus) – The 10am service is for the person who wants it all; the Praise & Worship Team, our choir, or presentations from our Performing Arts Team. This is a high-energy service and is designed for the person who doesn’t want to wake up too early on Sunday, but also doesn’t want to come too late and lasts an hour and a half. Attendees of this service span the gamut in terms of age, race, and social demography.

Sunday @ 11:45am, WORD North (East Tech High School/E. 55th) & WORD East (Shaw High School/Euclid Avenue) – These services are held at our 2 satellite locations. Our North and East services are designed for individuals who live near the downtown area or the west side of Cleveland, or the East Cleveland area (respectively), and features lively praise and worship immediately followed by our Pastor preaching. Service lasts about an hour and a half and has a unique energy due to the fact that these services are held in high schools and not in traditional church facilities. WORD North is conveniently located near downtown Cleveland on E. 55th, and WORD East is in the heart of East Cleveland at the intersection of Euclid and Shaw Avenue.

Sunday @ 1:00pm, WORD South (Warrensville Heights, Main Campus) – This is what we call our “crazy” service. It is designed for the person who works hard all week and just doesn’t want to wake up early on Sunday. Our Praise & Worship Team sings, our choir ministers, and since it’s our late service, there is normally lengthier, more liberated worship. It’s awesome! Unlike the earlier Sunday services, there are no time constraints so you never know what to expect at this contemporary, high-spirited service. This service appeals to people who like plenty of singing, plenty of dancing, and are simply not in a hurry, however, no worries—service still lasts approximately an hour and a half.

Weekday Services

Men’s Monday @ 6:30pm, WORD South (Warrensville Heights, Main Campus) – Men’s Monday provides a safe, constructive environment for men who desire a temporary but effective escape from the daily pressure life brings. Following a rich Word from Pastor Vernon or one of our anointed ministers or elders, there is free food, open recreation where men can play basketball and shoot pool, play video games, and dine in our restaurant. Men can also opt to further their educational and spiritual development through the many classes we offer including GED prep, job training, financial workshops, Grief Recovery®, and more.

Wednesday @ 12 noon, POWER HOUR Bible Study, WORD South (Warrensville Heights, Main Campus) – POWER HOUR Bible Study is designed for the person who loves the idea of coming to a 1 hour Bible study on their lunch break for an afternoon spirit-lift and then going right back to work; for those who have their own business with the flexibility to come and go; or for the stay-at-home mom who wants to get a Word and still have time to manage the household duties. It is also for our wonderful seasoned saints who like to get their Word early so that they can have the rest of the day to themselves. This service lasts exactly 1 hour so we’re done by 1pm, as Pastor Vernon is cognizant and respectful of your other obligations.

Wednesday “Happy Hour” Bible Study, WORD North (East Tech High School/E. 55th) and WORD East (Shaw High School/Euclid Avenue) @ 6pm – Our “Happy Hour” Bible Studies at WORD North and East are geared toward those who like the idea of an early evening service, with Worship and Word, and then having the rest of their evening to themselves. These are 1 hour Bible Studies that begin at 6pm, are over by 7pm and are taught by Pastor Vernon or one of the Ministers or Elders.

Wednesday Believer’s Night @ 7pm, WORD South (Warrensville Heights, Main Campus) – Believer’s Night is our 7pm Bible Study and is held at our main location. Pastor Vernon tends to teach/preach a little longer and dig a little deeper at Believer’s Night since we don’t have the same time constraints as we do for our other Wednesday services. This is a lively service and draws our largest crowd of the day. Believer’s Night is designed for the individual who wants to go home after work, get their family situated, and then come back out for worship and Word.  This service lasts approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes.
